Damon A. Schuetze is a founding member of M.A.R.S. (Motorcycle Awareness and Rider Safety), a non-profit corporation created to help educate riders and car drivers in order to prevent motorcycle related injuries and deaths. The other founding members include various motorcycle dealers around town, such as BMW Motorcycles of Las Vegas and Carter Powersports, as well as motorcycle related vendors, such as Racer's Edge, Motozone, Motorcycle Tire Center and other entities and people, like Miss Nevada, various law enforcement and more.
Our first event had over 400 riders show up. Our most recent event was at the Pahrump race track where we worked with the track day provider to get 23 riders out on the track for their very first track experience. With proper training, the right gear and plenty of seat time in precision environments like the race track, we are hoping that we can train riders with the skills and equipment necessary to avoid dangerous accidents. This is just one of the ways the attorneys at Schuetze & McGaha, P. C. are giving back to the riding community here in Southern Nevada.
People often say there is no where good to ride here in Las Vegas. It is true that the National Park Rangers have gotten much more aggressive about ticketing and towing motorcycles. They have threatened us at Lake Mead, Valley of Fire and Mount Charleston, to tow if they catch you going as low as 20 miles per hour over the speed limit.
Keeping that in mind, it is important to go out during times of the day you will not be likely to encounter the Rangers, which coincide with those times of day where you are much more likely to encounter car drivers likely out for scenic drives in those parks.
We here at Schuetze & McGaha, P. C. have learned to ride with groups of other experienced riders, usually early in the morning, with the aggressive use of radar and other technologies and tactics to try to minimize the risk of tickets. If you do get a ticket while riding, however, we handle tickets for free. This is yet another way Schuetze & McGaha, P. C. gives back to the riding community.
